Semyon Bagdasarov is a Russian politician, a member of the A Just Russia party, and a deputy of the Russian State Duma of the 5th convocation.

A regular on political talk shows on Russian state TV channels. He actively promotes hatred towards Ukraine, residents of the Baltic states and other states. Because of Bagdasarov’s rhetoric, he is called a “hate preacher”.

After the creation of the autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine in 2018, he said that ” a big cancerous tumor had appeared near Russia, which must be cut out at any cost”.

1. He stated that the alleged war was a forced measure (February 25, 2022)

He said that the Russian Federation allegedly did not want to have a country surrounded by weapons and “leave this problem to the next generation.” He also said that Ukraine was “ruled from the outside”.

 

2. He stated that almost everything in Ukraine had allegedly been created by the Russians’ hands (February 26, 2022)

He said that the top authorities of Ukraine should have been arrested for killing people in Donbas. He accused the Ukrainian authorities of pursuing an anti-Russian policy and noted that “practically everything in Ukraine was created by the Russians’ hands.”

3. He called the goal of the war a change in the leadership of Ukraine (February 27, 2022)

According to him, Russia allegedly cannot stop the war, and it is necessary to overthrow the Ukrainian government because, otherwise, allegedly “nothing will change” in Ukraine. He said the Russian Federation should go to the end because it is about its security.

4. He stated that it would not be possible to capture Ukraine so quickly (March 4, 2022)

The propagandist was outraged that the West provided Ukraine with weapons to defend against the Russian Federation, and that helped the Ukrainian military on the battlefield. He also complained that volunteers from all over the world were going to Ukraine, and the more experienced in military affairs among them would participate in the work of subversive and intelligence groups behind the rear of the Russian occupiers.

5. He threatened the USA with nuclear weapons if they continued to help Ukraine with weapons to defend against the Russian Federation (June 4, 2022)

According to him, the Russian Federation should make it clear to the United States that if they continue to support Ukraine’s defence capabilities, then Russia will consider withdrawing from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
