On July 20, 2022, Lesia Hasydzhak was appointed Acting General Director of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide. (Decree No. 318-k of the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, dated July 19, 2022).
She will perform the duties of the General Director until the appointment of the General Director, who will be elected on a competitive basis in accordance with the Law of Ukraine No. 955-VIII after the termination of the “martial law”.
Lesia Hasydzhak (1982) is a candidate of historical sciences, ethnologist, and museologist. She received her higher education at the Faculty of History of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. From 2008 to 2014, she worked at the NGO “Ukrainian Center for the Development of Museum Affairs”, responsible for the information and analytical work. She was the editor of the “Muzeinyi Prostir” (Museum Space) web portal. She also obtained practical experience in museums working part-time in several national museums in Kyiv. From 2015 to 2019 (with breaks), she worked as the first Deputy General Director of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide. During 2019-2021, she headed the “International Charitable Foundation of the Holodomor Museum”.
