Musical Event “Looking for the Grain of Truth”
On November 23, 2019, at 16:00, in the Holodomor Museum, The Telnyuk Sisters will present a special musical evening “Looking for the Grain of Truth”.
Halya and Lesya Telnyuk are famous Ukrainian vocal duo.
Mystery of word and music in the special program devoted to the 86th anniversary of the Holodomor-genocide “Looking for the Grain of Truth” tells about the long way to full assessment of the scales of the tragedy even after the prohibition for the truth about the Holodomor was broken. 86 years ago the Soviet authorities committed the crime against humanity — the Holodomor, which killed 7 million Ukrainians. During the years of silence and covering, thousands of histories, documents and facts were lost. The songs on the lyrics by Taras Shevchenko, Pavlo Tychyna, Yevhen Malaniuk, Bohdan Ihor Antonych, Vasyl Stus, Lina Kostenko, and Oksana Zabuzhko return the listeners to truly Ukrainian culture, which was under the risk of extinction during the USSR times.
Performances of The Telnyuk Sisters are unique literature and musical compositions, synthesis of poetry and singing. They always have dramatic element and direct circle of images: artist and society, internal freedom as necessary condition for creating, search for self-identity and essense of being.
