Holodomor Museum’s Exhibition “We Were Killed Because We Are Ukrainians” became a part of the Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago
The National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide transferred the materials of the exhibition “We Were Killed Because We Are Ukrainians” to the Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago (curated by Maria Klymchak). The implementation of this project became possible due to cooperation with the Ukrainian Genocide Foundation in the United States (Chairman Mykola Kocherha).
The exhibition “We Were Killed Because We Are Ukrainians” highlights the truth about the long-silenced crime of the Holodomor, a genocide organized by the totalitarian communist regime in the person of Stalin and his subordinates. The material is presented through the prism of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, since the main purpose of memory is to prevent the crime from happening again. Archival materials, memoirs of the Holodomor survivors, researches by leading scholars and lawyers were used in the exhibition. The exhibition, created in 2017–2018, was presented in most regions of Ukraine, as well as in Canada, Poland, Portugal and Estonia.
