15 May 2023

We invite museum workers and those willing to attend a presentation by the Holodomor Museum staff, who participated in the project “Memorializing history through education and museums” from the US Embassy in Ukraine.

The team of the Holodomor Museum participated in the scale International Visitor Leadership Program IVLP under the project “Memorializing history through education and museums”, funded by the US State Department. The program lasted from February 18 to March 11, 2023.

Our colleagues spent three weeks in the United States of America and visited more than a dozen of the main museum institutions of the United States, as well as state institutions that manage policies in the field of historical memory, culture, etc. During the trip, working meetings and exchange of experience took place, in particular with such establishments and institutions as:
– Department of State — US Department of State,
– The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (Washington),
– Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Chicago,
– National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in the state of Iowa,
– Du Sable Museum of African American History in Chicago.

On May 24, we invite colleagues, museum workers and everyone interested to a meeting presentation, during which there will be a discussion and exchange of experiences with our fellow participants of the program. Our Museum will share with colleagues the practices and principles we learned about during the project. Glen Davis, a culture and education attaché of the US Embassy in Ukraine, will attend the event.

The meeting will take place in the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide (Kyiv, 3 Lavrska St.). Start at 14:00.
