Meeting with the Teachers of Darnytsky and Desniansky Districts of Kyiv
On April 10-11, the employees of the National Museum “ Holodomor Victims Memorial” met with teachers of history of the schools of Darnytsky and Desniansky districts of Kyiv.
The meetings organized with the assistance of district departments of education were attended by about 100 teachers. Employees of the Holodomor Victims Memorial shared their experience with children of different age groups. Due to the lively discussion, the teachers and the museum workers shared their learning practices which they use to work with the students. Teachers noted that the students are more likely to perceive material at history lessons after visiting a museum. The Memorial staff drew attention to the most common questions that appear arise after children get acquainted the exposition, and their own observations on the reactions of children to various components of the Holodomor-Genocide.
The museum staff informed theparticipants of the seminar about interactive classes, workshops and educational films created by the museum. Also, the teachers received the brochures, created on the basis of the materials of the exhibition “We Were Killed Because We Were Ukrainians.” This publication has includes the structured important information about the Holodomor-Genocide in the way, accessible to the general public.
