Results of the Online Historical Summer School
On June 21–25, 2021, the Online Historical Summer School for the Study of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 took place.
The Summer Historical Online School for the Study of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 is an educational project for high school students, students, young scholars and teachers interested in studying the topic of the Holodomor genocide.
During five days, about 500 participants from different parts of Ukraine had the opportunity to attend a video tour, 6 lectures and 3 educational classes, learn about different aspects of the Holodomor: historical background of genocide, resistance to collectivization and the Holodomor, national liberation struggle of Ukrainians, legal assessment of genocide, the fate of children during the Holodomor, the psychological consequences, considered the Holodomor in the context of world genocides.
All lectures can be viewed by anyone on the Youtube channel of the Holodomor Museum.
The purpose of the school is to draw attention to the topic of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932–1933, to encourage young people to study and research the history of Ukraine; to create a research environment in the public space that will help free Ukrainian society from the post-genocidal syndrome.
Leading specialists in the Holodomor genocide were involved in the summer school. They provided a meaningful course and applied aspects (interactive lectures, video tours, discussions, debates, exercises on working with sources, online games, etc.).
Organizers of the online school “Holodomor: to Know in Order to Be” are the Holodomor Research Institute and the Holodomor Museum.
