The city of San Antonio, Texas, has approved a petition filed by Ukrainian San Antonio to accept a proclamation officially recognizing the Holodomor of 1932–1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The organization repoted this on Facebook.

The San Antonio government also declared November 28 Holodomor Remembrance Day.

“On this day (November 28 — ed.) Ukrainian San Antonio together with the US Committee for Ukrainian Holodomor Genocide Awareness and the Ukrainian American Society of Texas, as well as communities of Ukrainians around the world, will hold events dedicated to the memory of the Holodomor victims! ”The publication reads.

This event is important for the Ukrainian community. It aims to unite the community and raise awareness of the Holodomor among the general public of San Antonio.

“We must never forget the innocent victims of this genocide, and we must never forget this horrific crime of the totalitarian Soviet regime, the artificial starvation intended to kill Ukrainians to death,” the organization said.

It will be recalled that both chambers of the US Congress recognized the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians.
