Resistance to the Holodomor Museum Will Appear in Dnipro
Museum of Resistance to the Holodomor was created in Dnipro.
In the spring of 2019, Liliyia Bohacheva, as Chairman of the Public Council at the Dnipro City Council, initiated the appeal to the Dnipropetrovsk region authorities for the creation of the Museum of Holodomor Victims Remembrance.
On May 7, 2019, this initiative received support at the General Meeting of the Public Council at the Dnipro City Council, where it was decided to create a separate thematic Museum of the Holodomor Victims in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
On February 19, 2020, the deputies of the Dnipro City Council voted to create a separate thematic Museum of resistance to the Holodomor, the press service of the city council informs. The museum premises have not yet been determined.
The deputies also approved the Charter of the institution, according to which the sources of funding are, in particular, the funds of the city budget and charitable contributions of citizens.
This museum is to perform truly impostant tasks today:
- to accumulate and disseminate knowledge about the Holodomor-Genocide in the southeastern region of Ukraine,
- to honor the memory of the Holodomor victims,
- educate the younger generation and form civil society in order to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens,
- in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it will help citizens to realize the need to preserve their own statehood in order to prevent a similar crime in the future.
The candidate for the position of director of the newly created Museum of Resistance to the Holodomor Liliia Bohacheva actively cooperates with the Holodomor Museum and will continue to receive scientific support from the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide and the Holodomor Research Institute in the further steps of the scientific research of the subject and collecting objects for new museum exposition.
