Igor Ugolnikov, honoured artist of the Russian Federation, filmaker

Russian actor, film director, screenwriter, producer, and Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Ugolnikov spoke in support of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. In a video released by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, he repeats a series of propaganda narratives formulated by the Kremlin to justify its invasion of Ukraine and all the crimes committed by Russia.

Ugolnikov says that the Russian military is allegedly fighting against the “new Nazis” and that “one cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening in Ukraine.” He tries to shame those who oppose the war.

The director generously draws parallels between the fight against the Nazis during the Second World War and the alleged “Nazis” in Ukraine. He declares that if Russia now “allows the revival of Nazism,” then, they say, it will “betray memory, ancestors, and everything that is dear to Russians.” He also repeated the Kremlin’s thesis that “Russia does not abandon its own.”
