The Conference to the 75th Anniversary of the Holodomor Was Held in Kyiv
On the eve of the 87th anniversary of the Holodomor genocide, traditional annual IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Interdisciplinary Approaches in the Holodomor Genocide Studies” was held. It was organized by National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide and Holodomor Research Institute.
Leading Ukrainian and foreign scholars took part in the event.
The aim of the conference was the interdisciplinary exchange of the researches on the Holodomor genocide between the scholars in the fields of history, political science, law, medicine, statistics, sociology, criminology, pedagogics, anthropology, historical demography, social psychology, historical geography, etc.
Director of the Holodomor Research Institute, Doctor of History Svitlana Markova noted at the opening, “Such cooperation will contribute to fundamental research of Ukrainian and Westarn scholars, renewal of the conceptual and categorical apparatus, correlation of research practices with modern ideas about methodology and scientific methods.”
Well-known researchers presented their scientific reports at the first online plenary session: Volodymyr Vasylenko, Volodymyr Sergiychuk, Ivan Patryliak, Roman Tesliuk, Andrii Kozytskyi, Anatolii Filiniuk, Svitlana Markova and others.
The meeting was moderated by Svitlana Markova.
The second part of the conference was participated by Larysa Zasiekina, Hanna Skoreiko, Viktoriia Shuper, Yaroslav Piroh, Nadiia Honcharenko.
The moderator was Inna Shugalyova, PhD in History, head of the Historical Research of the Holodomor Genocide Department of the Holodomor Research Institute
The participants of the final meeting were Dmytro Bilyi, Roman Serbyn, Natalia Romanets, Gledis Anjelika Vaskes Zarate, Oleksandr Nikiliev, Andrii Matvieyev, Natalia Frankiv, Olha Yaniuk and others.
The discussion was moderated by Dmytro Bilyi.
During the conference, the participants discussed the following topics:
- Interdisciplinary approaches to the Holodomor Genocide study;
- Social, economical, political, law, demographic, moral and psychological parts, and prolonged effects of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 in Ukraine;
- Convergence of researches on the Holodomor genocide between the scholars in the fields of history, political science, law, medicine, statistics, sociology, criminology, pedagogics, anthropology, historical demography, social psychology, historical geography, etc.;
- Remembrance about the Holodomor: studies, instrumentalization in law, politics, history, and demography;
- Oral history: everyday life of Ukrainians during the Holodomor genocide.
Conference proceeding will be published in a collection.
