The organizers screened of the short movie “Holodomor”, opened a photo exhibition and an installation dedicated to the memory of millions of victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933. Representatives of the union Yevhenia Chaglar and Natalia Potapenko recounted the memories of their relatives who witnessed the genocide.

“It is extremely important for our community to tell our Turkish friends about the history of the Ukrainian people, especially the truth about the Holodomor, in order to avoid such a catastrophe in the future and emphasize the importance of recognizing the Holodomor in the international legal field,” the union said.

Turkish guests who learned about the tragic pages of Ukrainian history for the first time were shocked by what they heard and saw. Some participants asked questions, others could not hold back tears.

The audience was especially impressed by the song “Candle” by Myroslav Skoryk, performed by Yevhenia Chaglar, holding a lighted candle in memory of the Holodomor victims.

The participants also got acquainted with thematic literature and received books in Turkish about the Holodomor, the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
