On February 19, 2021, the Municipal Institution “Museum of the Holodomor Resistance” of the Dnipro City Council celebrated the first anniversary of its creation—deputies of the City Council voted for the creation of the museum at the session on February 19, 2020.

The director of the Museum of Holodomor Resistance in Dnipro is Lilia Bogacheva, a member of the board of the Public Council at the Dnipro City Council and the initiator of the museum.

During the year, the Museum of Holodomor Resistance in Dnipro together with the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide and the Holodomor Research Institute prepared an exhibition of rare archival documents “Pavlohrad Uprising and Farmers’ “Volynky’ in Villages” about protests against collectivization in the 1930s, which was presented in Yavornytskyi Historical Museum, and a documentary exhibition “Down with Soviet power!”, which reveals the history of the resistance to forced collectivization in Dnipropetrovsk region in 1930, presented in the building of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University.

On February 19, 2021, the organizations will present materials for a book edited by the head of the research department of the Museum of Holodomor Resistance, Ph.D. Natalia Romanets Holodomor Genocide of 1932–1933 in the Dnipropetrovsk region: scale, consequences.

The National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide expresses its gratitude to Lilia Bogacheva and the staff of the Museum of Holodomor Resistance for the cooperation.

It will be recalled that in the spring of 2019, Lilia Bogacheva initiated an appeal to the leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk region regarding the need to create a Museum in memory of the Holodomor victims. On May 7, 2019, this initiative was supported by the General Meeting of the Public Council at the Dnipro City Council, and on November 13, 2019, at the round table “Holodomor: the issue of forming national memory among the population of Dnipropetrovsk region”, initiated by the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide and the Holodomor Research Institute, the concept of the exposition and further steps in the process of creating a special thematic museum in memory of the Holodomor victims in the Dnipropetrovsk region were discussed.
