Summer School “The Holodomor: To Know in order to Be” has started

On June 21, 2021, the Online School for the study of the Holodomor began.

The purpose of the school is to draw attention to the topic of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932–1933, to encourage young people to study and research the history of Ukraine, to create a research environment space that will help free Ukrainian society from the post-genocidal syndrome.

Leading specialists in the Holodomor genocide are involved in the summer school. They will provide a meaningful course and interactive lectures, video tours, discussions, debates, exercises on working with sources, online games, etc.

The online meeting was opened by a video tour of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide and communication with the head of the educational and excursion department of the museum Yana Horodniak. School participants learned about the causes and mechanisms of the Holodomor, as well as the commemoration of those killed by the famine in 1932–1933, and saw the exhibits and memorials of the Museum.

The second part of the classes took place in the format of a video conference via the Zoom platform. In the introductory lecture-presentation “The Holodomor—the genocide of the Ukrainian nation”, lecturer Iryna Batyrieva spoke about the genocide of the Ukrainian nation, the organizers and perpetrators of the crime, described the stages of destruction of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, Church and Ukrainian farmers by the Russian communist totalitarian regime.

The school will last until June 25, 2021.
