Formation of hatred towards Ukraine and Ukrainians

Russia has constantly been trying to deny the right of Ukraine to independence. When Putin came to power, the narrative about the accidental Ukrainian statehood, accompanied by distorted and falsified information about the history of Ukraine, started being increasingly heard at the highest level. Moscow cultivates the ideology of “one nation”. Therefore it shows the desire of Ukrainians for independent development as “abnormal”. Propaganda convinces that Ukrainians under the influence of the West are following the wrong, anti-Russian path.

Dictator Putin benefits from maintaining a high degree of hatred in society. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, propaganda has actively used the old narratives about the “fight against Nazism” to motivate the occupiers better and explain their criminal actions to other states. In particular, the Kremlin is spreading hysteria around “Nazis in Ukraine”, “biological laboratories,” and “Ukraine’s plans to attack Russia”.

The top authorities in the Russian Federation hope that creating a negative image of Ukraine will help to justify the crimes of the Russian military in the eyes of the Russians themselves and the whole world. That is why the entire Russian propaganda machine is working to create hatred towards our country.
